Fremont Canyon
Fremont Canyon is one of Wyoming’s (somewhat) best kept secrets and is the perfect location if you are looking for a spectacular backdrop for some of the best trout fishing in the region.
This unobstructed access to the river is a great place to get your casting in order without having to worry about the dreaded back cast snag. From here you will see the mouth of the canyon. When flows are around 75 cfs (which is typical for this stretch), you are able to cross the river and enter into the canyon. There is some rock hopping involved, so be sure to have proper footwear. The more you hop back into the canyon, the less pressure those fish have had, which can make for some very productive days. This stretch is typically nymphed, but there is some dry fly opportunity in the early mornings and late evenings.
