JR does it again!

Most of you are familiar with the JR's Flashback Emerger and how much of a killer it can be on the river in the spring. Well JR is retired now, and spends his days right here with us at the Ugly Bug, helping guests pick out flies and the best spots to fish. We are grateful to have him be apart of our crew.

A conversation in the back office about how fish see color, and that contrast and depth matters more than the color itself got John excited to try a few new things. He went home, tied his heart out.. and the result? Plenty of fish to the net to make him want to send the patterns off to a commercial tyer. So here they are: 

JR's Bruise: JR's Bruise is a mayfly imitation designed to be fished in dirty water or dark conditions.  The dark color allows fish to see the outline of the fly in deep, or darker water.

JR's Olive Oil: A mayfly imitation designed to be fished anytime. The Tungsten Bead Head version is designed as a “dropper” in a dry-dropper rig. This fly can be taken as a PMD or BWO.

JR's CC Me Now: JR's CC Me Now is a mayfly imitation designed to be fished in clear water or sunny conditions.  The red and white colors allow fish to see the outline of the fly.  The Tungsten Bead Head version is designed as a “dropper”.
