Spring Fishing on the North Platte

Spring time on the North Platte is unbeatable. Don't miss your chance to get on the books with one of our experienced and passionate guides.

The Grey Reef and Miracle Mile can both be productive this time of year. As usual you're going to see higher quantity days on the Grey Reef, and nicer quality on the Miracle Mile. It really depends on what you're looking for. Targeting that personal best trout? Make the jaunt out to the Mile to experience fish with an average size of 20 inches. If you're looking to have an action packed day and put a lot of fish to the net, the Grey Reef is your friend. Now that's not to say we don't see quality fish on the Reef... the average size still sits between 16-18 inches.

This time of year you will find a nymph rig to be the most productive. With go-to patterns being Pine Squirrel Leeches, Rock Worms, and small midges like the Mayhem Midge or MacGrubers. We hope to see some BWO's coming off on those nicer days as well. Flows will stay at about 500 CFS until summertime, making the water easy to read and accessible for wading.

You will also find that the Rainbow spawn is in full swing during the spring months, so be mindful of beds to ensure we have the most productive spawn possible.

Our guides and shop staff are here to help, with the most up to date fishing reports, road conditions, and general information about the area. Give us a call to get on the books today!
